Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Geotenses: International Journal of Future Geography Education undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the scholarly work we publish.
1. Initial Screening
Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial review to assess:
- Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope
- Originality and academic contribution
- Compliance with submission guidelines and formatting
Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors without external review.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area. In the double-blind process:
- The identity of authors is hidden from reviewers
- The identity of reviewers is hidden from authors
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:
- Originality and significance of the research
- Clarity and coherence of the presentation
- Soundness of methodology and data analysis
- Relevance of the literature review and theoretical framework
- Strength of conclusions and implications for geography education
3. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revisions
- Major Revisions
- Reject
Authors receiving revision requests are expected to resubmit the revised manuscript within the specified deadline, accompanied by a point-by-point response to reviewers' comments.
4. Final Review and Publication
Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers for a second evaluation. Once all revisions are satisfactorily addressed, the manuscript proceeds to copyediting, layout, and publication.
The entire review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of authors and reviewers.
Geotenses upholds ethical review practices and expects all reviewers to maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and constructive feedback throughout the review process.
