Abstract

Ecosystem degradation caused by natural resource exploitation and poorly managed household waste poses a fundamental challenge to local-level climate change mitigation. This community service initiative aims to enhance the awareness, knowledge, and skills of the residents of Temayang Hamlet regarding environmental preservation and sustainable waste management, framed within the Climate Village Program (ProKlim). The activity employed a participatory, qualitative-descriptive approach comprising several stages: information dissemination (lectures/outreach), training and field practice (ecoprinting, inorganic waste utilization, construction of Black Soldier Fly/BSF maggot cultivation containers, and creation of biopore infiltration holes), tree-planting conservation efforts, and village-wide cleanup activities. The results demonstrate improved participatory awareness and technical skills among residents and children in sorting and processing organic and inorganic waste into useful products and animal feed. It is concluded that strengthening community capacity through the integration of education, appropriate technology, and community-based environmental action effectively supports the sustainability and resilience of Temayang Hamlet as a Climate Village.
